Posted by jackie blue on May 27th, 2002

It’s been a pretty good holiday weekend, though I’m working today when most people aren’t. Saturday was the most beautiful day ever, and I spent it in Central Park with friends, walking 12 miles and picnicking, and then later on in a cafe with Marney doing what else? Knitting. I have the back (front? who knows) of the Flame tank nearly done. Tomorrow night at SnB it should be finished, and the other side started. I love a good, fast project.

Sad because tomorrow night’s SnB will be the last for Carolyn, at least until she visits NYC again, as she is moving to Seattle this week. It’s comforting to know she’ll still be a big presence here on the web.

Bored. Slow at the newspaper today, want to be on the beach.

Jumping on the Personal

Jumping on the Personal Yarns Bandwagon

Theresa has posed these questions for us:

1. Where were you born? What do you know about your own birth? (time, circumstance, etc…)
I was born at 9:25 p.m. on August 20, 1965, in Brooklyn, N.Y. My mother had been in labor all day, but waited till my father came home from work to go to the hospital. He got her there just in time. I was born 20 minutes after they walked through the door.

2. Do you have a baby picture you can put onto your weblog? If not, tell us what you looked like as a baby.
I don’t have many old pictures in my apartment, but I managed to dig up this one. It’s not a great picture, a little too blurry, and I was cuter than I appear. The little boy in front of me is my cousin, Bruce.

3. What kind of a baby or toddler were you according to the people who were around when you were young?
I’m told I was a very good, well behaved, baby. Little did they know about the years to come.

4. Know any cute baby-related quotes anecdotes?
Not really, that I can recall. I did start drinking beer around that age, thanks to my maternal grandfather, who would always save the last few drops for me. Mmmmm, Backwash! Thanks, Grandpa.

I don’t have a whole lot to say about knitting today. My progess on the Flame tank may have to take a slight back seat to reading, as my friends are starting a book club and have given me 2 weeks to read our first book. I’m going to try to set aside about an hour each day for both knitting, and reading. Today would be a fabulous read-in-the-park day, but I’m feeling imprisoned in my apartment waiting for my super to come fix my ceiling already. He must have gotten lost.

Last night saw the movie “About a Boy” which I thought was great, a feel good movie without being overly sappy. And Hugh Grant is a total hottie in this, and not at all his usual bumbling self.
I’m a Nick Hornby fan anyway, so I needed to go.

At SnB last night

Posted by jackie blue on May 22nd, 2002

At SnB last night (it was nice to see so many people there, and staying late!), we talked about our trip to Smiley’s the other day and how they gave us some free patterns when we left. Most of mine are going in the garbage, but I promised to post a few of them for amusement purposes. Hey, if anyone wants these, email now before they are gone!

Speaking of horrifying photos, I also promised to post this one. It fascinates me endlessly.
I got to wear my Maggie sweater last night and received many compliments on it. It’s so nice to be among people who really appreciate the work that goes into this stuff. Did a little more on the Flame tank…maybe one day it will get warm enough in NYC to wear it.
