So last night, I

Posted by jackie blue on October 23rd, 2002

So last night, I come home from SnB to find that dog of mine had gotten into my knitting bag (the one left home of course) and taken 4 skeins of gorgeous alpaca and strewn them all over my apartment. Anyone want a dog? I now have some huge tangles to deal with today. I did 2 of them last night but one of the ones left is really stubborn and I’m not sure of the 4th one yet. Grrrr. I know he probably just wanted to knit me a scarf but using his paws instead of needles was not exactly the right way.

SnB was fun though, nice turnout, so many new faces (but where are all the old familiar favorites? Meema? Debbie? BETSY? OK, I know where Betsy’s been but she’s missed anyway.)

I forgot to mention yesterday, as a fairly new dog owner I’ve gotten quite interested in a reality dog show on Animal Planet called Dog Days. It takes place in a dog run very near my house, and Monday night’s episode featured a guy who saved all the hair he pulled out when grooming his medium-haired collie mix all the time. He had a whole pail of hair, and went around to all the NYC knitting shops to find a place that would spin it for him and knit a hat. He went to our favorite Gotta Knit! (sarcasm alert) and they gave a snooty “We prefer to knit with cashmere here” reply. He ended up at Wallis Meyers needlework and she spun and knit him a lovely hat without thinking he was insane. It was quite amusing an episode. Especially since I wonder if the next time Ty is shorn, I should save the hair…

Oh, something I forgot

Oh, something I forgot to mention – when I was at the Billy Bragg concert on Sunday (which was AWESOME) he asked us (seriously) in the front rows to make some MP3s of a song he just recorded, and to spread it out among friends and on the internet. So, I’m doing my part. It’s called The Price of Oil and you can download it from that link (5.6 mb). He really has a lot to say in these lyrics, and even if you aren’t a Bragg fan, I urge you to listen.

Yesterday was a hellish

Yesterday was a hellish day, no time to blog. I attribute it to the fulll moon we had last night. The whole day at my Monday gig, the servers kept going down and we had these weird power surges. I had a lot of down time from working, but with the server down, couldn’t get on the internet either. So I just knit my alpaca scarf, which is coming along nicely.

I also knit in Central Park this weekend – Sunday was a gorgeous day and I took Ty and after a nice walk, we sat in the grass and listened to the guy with the guitar, who I think is really good. Ty made friends with a woman sitting nearby (and anyone else with food) so we had a nice few hours sitting under a tree.

Today I should be doing some additional work on a past freelance project, and then tonight is SnB which I’m really looking forward to. I wonder what the turnout will like this week.

Cleaning day today. I

Cleaning day today. I really have to get my apartment in order – closets are a mess, things lying around, I hate it. Despite the terrific weather and the fact that I should be out with the dog all day, I’ll be in cleaning.

Tomorrow I’m volunteering for NY Cares Dayso I’ll be out all day cleaning a school in East Harlem.

Knitting front of sweater is coming along, I’ll probably stay in and knit a lot tonight – as the rest of the weekend will be taken up with other plans. I hope to have good weather on Sunday, I would like to go to Central Park. And Sunday night I will be seeing Billy Bragg in concert – looking forward to that even though I’m probably going alone! Though that might depend on how tomorrow night’s date goes…
