War, blah blah. I

Posted by jackie blue on March 20th, 2003

War, blah blah. I could go on, but there are enough people out there spouting their political beliefs. I think I will be happy keeping this little blog light and fluffy and free of my opinions of the leaders of this country or any others. That said though, I have nothing to say about knitting this day. Well, I have been sporadically working on the Surf sweater, but freelance work and homework are keeping me pretty busy. I have a site design to turn in at the end of this week, and I have a Flash page due tonight for class that is nowhere near where I’d like it to be. I know it’s not a contest, but I really want to do better in this class, but all this programming is just beyond the way my brain works. That and the fact that I have too much other stuff to do to really focus on this full time.

I am also pretty obsessed with getting back to summer shape (was I ever really even in it?) so I am being very careful how I eat these days (dieting, but not really, more like moderation but not cutting anything out) and working out as much as I could. I’m praying for good weekend weather so I can go back to the park and walk walk walk, but until then, the gym will suffice.

Well, back to work for me.

Brrr. It’s freezing once

Brrr. It’s freezing once again in NYC. I’ll bet it’s going to be another non-Spring year and go straight from 24 degrees to 80. And it’s too bad for me that it’s still so cold, as my most favorite scarf ever, the Green Fuzzy, was lost yesterday. Actually, I didn’t really “lose” it, someone stole it. I had dropped it in the reception area at a client’s, and when I realized I left it there went back to get it and it was gone. Nowhere to be found. I really truly got upset, as I wore it everyday and was very fond of it. And that was just the cap to a lousy afternoon with a client from hell who is making me jump through hoops to get the little bit of money owed to me. Oh, the woman who hired me is very sweet. But the *corporation* is insane. They are treating me as a new hire even though I’m just a consultant who works from home and barely put in 24 hours of work since December. They made me fill out a slew of paperwork, watch an orientation video which had *nothing* to do with what I’m doing for them, I had to submit proof of college degree, and get this, in 2 weeks I have to go for a physical. All to work in my pajamas in my living room. I’m telling you, this world we live in is CRAZY.

And a fond farewell

And a fond farewell to Carolyn, who inspired a lot of us to start blogging, and whom I will miss reading everyday. Keep in touch Carolyn!

Thanks for all your

Thanks for all your compliments on the Caterpillar! I know it took me forever to get done, and I appreciate that y’all stuck with me. Now I have a busy week ahead with hopefully some knitting, but not a lot of time for it. I have a big assignment for my Flash class next week (we are on Spring Break tonight) and I also have a new freelance assignment that will be rather time consuming. But on the agenda today is getting motivated to get to the gym, and taking care of some client red tape this afternoon. That will kill my whole day, grrrr.
