Freaky Weather

Posted by jackie blue on November 9th, 2003

It’s kind of worrisome when it goes from 80 degrees to nearly 30 in the same week. It’s COOOOOOLD out there, which means I need a new scarf. I will spend most of the day indoors today finishing the Latifa scarf if it kills me. I was outdoors most of the day yesterday, doing the park walk with Ayelet, so I don’t feel the need to brave the cold a second day in a row, other than dog walks.

Well, I won my Ebay auction for the Rowan 4 ply cotton so now have to think about what it will become for the latest baby in the family. It’s a good color for either a boy or girl (this one’s a girl) so I feel I will have good use of this yarn any time in the future. I’d better, I’ll soon have 20 skeins of it and we all know baby things usually take only 2 or 3. I don’t know what possessed me to even bid on this much, although it was so enticing knowing I’d be paying half price for it. I wish I had a lot more money and space as there are so many great yarns for auction there.

I wish I didn’t read about the new Phildar Irlandais catalogue on so many other blogs. Now I REALLY want to make this hoodie, and I haven’t even gotten close to finishing my Surf sweater yet.

I don’t have all that much to say about knitting today. Latifa is coming along, and I have bid in on some Rowan cotton yarn on Ebay – hopefully to become *something* for the new grandniece. Although I’m not wild about knitting with cotton in winter, she lives in LA and there isn’t too much need for wool there.

Tonight my favorite music series Loser’s Lounge is repeating their tribute show to The Zombies from a few years back. Now, The Zombies are my most favorite band ever, competing only with The Beatles, so you can just imagine how happy this makes me. The show rocked back when they first did it. I’m actually going again tomorrow night, since my usual suspects Stacy and Brett couldn’t go tonight. Tonight I am taking a LL virgin, a guy I’ve been seeing for a few weeks. I think this is perfect introduction to that show.

Looking forward to maybe finishing Latifa over the weekend. We’ll see.

Coming Along

…with the Latifa scarf. Hopefully that will be done by next week as it is supposed to get cold again, and then I have some deciding to do about the grand niece gift. And yarn shopping to do for that as well. That’s the fun part! Getting things done is the hard part. Today I’m wrapped up in designing a site for a musician friend of mine, it’s no small site. And tonight I’m going to a screening of The Triplets of Belleville which I’m very exicited about. I love screenings because they are free. I supposed I can knit while standing in line for that one.

Update on Kelly for those concerned – the vet said he had 2 injured wings. He’s currently living in a tiny portable cage for rehab, and he’s on antibiotics. He opened one wound again 2 nights ago, so I need to keep close watch to make sure he doesn’t flap around too much. I think he’ll be OK if he’d just stop trying to fly away when I give him his meds.
