Last night’s knitting group was a lot of fun. In fact, the lovely Ellen has evidence of such, that makes me look like a psycho on crack with no shoulders. How frightening! And I made decent headway on my cowl - but stupid me, after chatting all night and listening to music I got distracted and counted wrong on my stitches after armhole decreasing. I thought I had too few, so I frogged some lines. Well, silly me, I had it right. But it was just as well, because I had dropped a stitch on the decreases and would have had to sew it in carefully, but the frogging solved that. Soooo….not done with the front JUST yet but soon.
This will be a busy weekend I think. I have a drinks thing this evening and then it’s up VERY early tomorrow to clean up Prospect Park as part of NY Cares Spring Clean Up Day. Sunday will probably be at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, unless it rains, since it’s a friend’s birthday on Monday and that’s how she’d like to celebrate. I think it’s Cherry Blossom Festival this weekend. So, I’ll have to scramble to find some knitting time. But I think it could be done.

Spring Fever
Posted by jackie blue on April 27th, 2004After a cold and rainy Monday, it’s a lovely, sunny, cool Tuesday morning. I don’t want to be in this office. I want to be strolling along the pond in Central Park, a dashing gentleman by my side, Ty frolicking ahead of us, me in a lovely Phil Eponge cowl sweater. Oh wait…
I’m about 1/3 into the front of that sweater. The dream might have to wait a little while. But it’s coming along, and the usual dragginess of work on Tues. promises to allow some knitting time. I got a little bit done on Saturday during a lovely knitting brunch with friends. I’d be with them again tonight if I didn’t have a freelance deadline. I’m going to try to make the Thurs. night group on the way UWS this week.

Posted by jackie blue on April 22nd, 2004I finished the back of the Eponge cowl yesterday. Now I must decide if I do thr front or a sleeve next. Sometimes it gets really boring knitting in predictable order.
I like the way it’s coming out though. Kind of like knitting one of those old terrycloth coverups for the beach in the early 70s. Here’s the stitch closer.
I hope to have another piece of this done by the weekend. I do have some social engagements and freelance work that will cut into knitting time though. What I need is a knitting vacation. Just a week in a cabin somewhere with no phone, no TV, nothing but yarn…
