Miles to go before I sew

Posted by jackie blue on September 16th, 2005

This is the state of the Deli sweater. I need about 100 miles of this stuff. It’s an easy 4 row repeat but oh, so boring. I’ll break it up with baby blanket squares (8 to go) and perhaps a little more of that sock (turned the heel, onto the foot now) but I’m not allowing myself to work on anything else till these are done.
Please repeat. Must.Wear.Deli.In.Rhinebeck. And now, Must.Give.Blanket.Before.Cold.Weather.
There now. Keep repeating. See you in a few.

Weekend Update

Posted by jackie blue on September 11th, 2005

Today was that kind of day. The kind when the weather gods are smiling widely, and you’ve not a care in the world, and you are surrounded by good friends and having a fabulous time. I forgot what anniversary today was.
The fabulous Claudia was in town for the weekend, and a few of us joined her for 2 days of wandering and shopping and eating. Cari has the photolog. I am the lame blogger who left the camera at home, both days. I assure you though that a good time was had by all, and I managed to get by with buying only a tube of way overpriced but delicious smelling Pear body lotion.
I know you’re expecting progress on the baby blanket. Well, public knitting means staying away from lace and intarsia for me, so the Deli sleeve came out from hiding again and I am a few rows short of casting off. We now begin the 100 miles of lace that border the sleeves and cardi edge. I’m actually looking forward to this part. We’ll see if I feel the same way when I’m sewing it together.

End of summer blues

There’s always something sad to me about Labor Day weekend. It’s not that I’m not looking forward to Fall. Fall is my favorite season, and I love the clothing (sweaters!! scarves!) and I have so many things to look forward to (out of towners visiting, brunches, a knitting cruise, RHINEBECK!) but I guess growing up a beach girl, I will always associate Labor Day with the true end of summer, and the end of frolicking in the ocean. Sure, it could be 90 degrees tomorrow. But my weekends will be spent home now.

This LD weekend was productive in the knitting dept. My mother helped me with that baby blanket by sewing together 14 of the finished squares. I have 9.5 more to knit, and it’s coming along. I also have been working on a pair of socks. Yes, it must be Fall.

Just look at those colors. Loving it.
