Shetha tagged me, so here we go. An excuse for a Saturday post.
What is your all time favourite yarn to knit with?
Now this changes on a regular basis. Right now it’s Brooks Farm Four Play, because the colors are so delicious, and it’s soft without being too mushy to knit with, and it doesn’t split. Near perfect if you ask me.
Your favourite needles?
No contest - Addi Turbos. I rarely stray. I love the slipperiness that makes me knit FAST.
The worst thing you’ve ever knit?
Hmmm. We’ll skip the 80s altogether and go for something recent. Probably the poncho I knit to wear to Rhinebeck last year. It wasn’t the pattern itself, which was lovely when knit right and with more delicate yarn. But I was in such a hurry to finish it (I knit it in 6 days) that I paid no attention to gauge and ended up with an unmatched, unfinished collar (no time to knit a band to finish) and I used pretty darn ugly yarn (a Lion Brand concoction the color of, oh, spit out tobacco, and hairy yet) and it was just a damn ugly thing. Damn ugly. I’ll never wear it again.
Your most favourite knit pattern? (maybe you don’t like wearing it…but it was the most fun to knit)
Anything I don’t end up ripping 17 times, which usually means stockinette. I love knitting lace and cables but for fun factor, I think stockinette is perfect for racing through in front of a good movie.
Most valuable knitting technique?
Probably the simple knitting in the round on 2 circs. I hate DPNs and this has made me enjoy knitting socks a whole lot more.
Best knit book or magazine?
Rowan for sure, though surprisingly I forgot to renew this year and never got this Fall’s issue. And haven’t made a big move to get it.
Your favourite knit-a-long?
I don’t do knit-alongs. I joined the Pooling Scarf one but almost none of us actually made it in the end. I have made items other people made in knit-alongs, but I do it quietly on my own. I don’t like the pressure.
Your favourite knitblogs?
Any and all of my friends. To list them here would be too long a list, and I’d hate to leave anyone out. I’m lucky to know such wonderful bloggers.
Your favourite knitwear designer?
For a long time it was Kim Hargreaves. I haven’t been as pleased since she went out on her own, but I still think she’s got my taste down.
The knit item you wear the most? (how about a picture of it!)
I believe it has to be my Ribby Cardi. This has become my all purpose - throw it on to shop, go to the dog run, walk dog kind of sweater. It’s easy, and it’s cozy and warm.
