Alice in her party dress

Posted by jackie blue on March 29th, 2006

It’s one of those weeks. So busy that dinner is usually around 10, and I have to cancel on friends I haven’t seen in weeks. I hate this. I don’t understand how I can work my butt off all the time and still have no money. And it’s so nice out today…sigh.
I did manage to see Heather for a short while last night, she joined me on my semi-annual “Beefening” so at least I know there will be good eats around these parts.
Busy like this means little knitting time this week, but luckily I have made good headway on Alice until now. The lace is now so second nature I’m….gasp, knitting lace in public! The evidence:

Shoulder shaping should be soon and then I can start the front. I’m determined to get an hour of knitting a night before bed, so we shall see.

Alice Who?

Posted by jackie blue on March 21st, 2006

In my quest to make 2006 the Year of Finishing, I haven’t started any new projects except for socks since Tubey. So now that Tubey is done, I’ve been working here and there on both Lisette, and Elfin. But it occurred to me yesterday, the first day of Spring (despite last night’s frigid temps , Man was it cold walking Ty last night) that both those sweaters, being of dark colors and wool content, really wouldn’t be worn when done. At least not till Fall.
So I put them temporarily aside.
Remember this?
This cotton lace monstrosity was long forgotten, to the point that when the pattern was messed up due to increases and decreases, I didn’t even bother to work it out again. Well, I picked it up a few days ago. And figured out the strange number of stitches I had and how to get the lace back on track. And despite the fact that there are mistakes in it (mostly on the sides and hopefully not very visible in the end), I’ve decided to make this my main Spring project. It’s got a long way to go, I’m barely up to the armholes on the back, but I’m determined. Maybe I can get some wear out of this before summer. At least in air conditioning.
So what if pink/green combos are So Last Year? (or in my case, TWO years ago?)

Tubey, already

Posted by jackie blue on March 17th, 2006

It’s not that I didn’t want to show it to you. Really. I took like 1000 photos and I just couldn’t get a good one that wasn’t blurry or grainy, or that I didn’t have a dumb face in, or mostly that I didn’t look like I gained that zillion lbs. that I did. But I failed. So I give the teeny shot of me as a compromise. Really I’m not quite as busty as I appear. That Tubey is some boobage enhancing sweater. Now THAT should get me some interesting Google references.

In other news, I’m buried under work but have been trying to work on Lisette. I had to rip her collar last night but the border is 1/3 done and seaming has commenced. Hopefully soon…

Distraction

To distract you from the fact that there’s no Tubey photo yet…here’s a cute dog.

Ty went through a hellish groom yesterday and he’s such a show dog when he comes out. I love this photo because it really makes him look like a delicate little frou frou dog instead of the 25 lb. monster of scruff he really is. It amuses me. He’s been turning heads in the street since he got out, he’s that gorgeous.
And here’s a sock - Jaywalker out of Knitpicks Sock Garden.

I had declared these the ugliest socks ever due to the thick pool of stripes but you know what? It’s really grown on me. I think I like it.
