Remember this post?

Posted by jackie blue on November 27th, 2006

You might have seen this post about a friend’s lost dog a couple of months ago. Well if you’re interested, there’s a nice followup story to read here. It’s quite the saga. (I’m in there too, as “a friend”.)

Knee Sock #1

Posted by jackie blue on November 17th, 2006

So yeah, ok, I went to get my sneakers out of the bottom of the closet to go to the gym and there was my card reader. I must have picked up a pair of boots to toss in the closet and the wire got mixed in. Only me, folks, only me.

So here’s the first knee sock right before I knit the last few rows. It’s bound off now, with less than a foot of yarn to spare, and sock #2 is on the needles. I hope it takes me less than a month to do that one. After all, I have lots more sock yarn waiting, including 2 lovely skeins of Vesper recently acquired. And Trekking! Whoo! I need to get a move on with these socks.

And I’m still working on Elfin ruffles, though it’s kind of difficult sometimes, when knitting in my house looks like this.

Finished Starsky

Posted by jackie blue on November 3rd, 2006

Finally, a photo. Starsky was finished last weekend but it got too warm to wear it, and even at a brisk 39 degrees this morning – wearing just a cashmere turtleneck and Starsky, I was broiling. This is a WARM sweater.

Pattern: Starsky from Knitty
Modification: Added cables to plain stockinette sleeves
Yarn: Peruvian Highland Chunky from Elann

And just for the hell of it, a picture of Kennedy making himself quite at home.

Random Tuesday musings

Posted by jackie blue on October 10th, 2006

I’m really glad I chose to alter Starsky’s sleeves to have the cable pattern instead of plain stockinette. Almost done with sleeve #1 thanks to weekend knitting with friends and a slow couple of days at the Mon/Tues. job. Will she be done with this in 10 days? One never knows. One doubts though.

Baby birds don’t necessarily love a bath the first time so putting them under a running faucet might not be the best introduction. (Don’t worry, he’s fine!)

Both my pairs of folding knitting scissors have disappeared. Really have no idea where they are.

One should not leave their cell phone in a jacket pocket when it’s going to be a warm day the next day. Currently without phone.

There’s nothing like a Tuscan bean soup, even when the weather suddenly becomes too warm for soup.

I’m really liking the new Decemberists album.

It’s a good TV night tonight.
