Happy New Year 2005

Posted by jackie blue on December 31st, 2004

The fancy dinner is cooking in the new slow cooker (yeah!) I got for Christmas/Whatever, an apple tart will be baking later, there’s wine, there’s knitting in the afternoon and some socialization before dinner later, and there’s hope that the party next door will NOT be obnoxiously loud till all hours of the morning. And with that, I wish you all a very Happy New Year.

My resolutions are surprisingly few. Yes, there are the usual “work out more”, “make more money”, etc. and all, but the most important resolutions to me are to just make 2005 the best year I’ve had in a long time. And I think it can be done.

See you next year!

Christmas Wrapped

Posted by jackie blue on December 26th, 2004

Well I had a very lowkey and lovely holiday weekend. Friday night Em and I crossed the river over to visit Mindy and her delightful family. Much wine and snacks and talking and music later, we headed home and I spent Saturday doing the family thing. We laid low and had a quiet day, and today Em and I met again for a Sunday afternoon movie. Somewhere in all that were gifts (and thanks to Santa being a little late this year, I still have another coming from Mom - can’t WAIT to get that one though it’s food, not knitting, related) and yes, even some knitting.

I finished the second front piece and started the second sleeve on the Ribby Cardi - so if all goes well, I’ll have it in a week or so. Still have to buy a zipper for that one. And the sock isn’t done yet but almost - a funny little episode in the movie theatre today caused some dropped stitches and therefore, more time fixing than knitting - but that one will come with me to work tomorrow.

Ah, work. I’ll be happy when it’s Wed. and I have more “vacation” time for the next holiday weekend. Hope everyone had a lovely time this weekend too!

Happy Chrismukkah!

Secret Pals and socks

Posted by jackie blue on December 19th, 2004

Today my buzzer rang and it was the mailman. Mail on Sunday?? I guess it’s for the holidays. So he gives me a box the final gift from my not-so-secret Secret Pal, Anita. Just look what she gave me!!

I was floored, really, what a great gift! The yarn is yummy, the cookies some of my favorites, the tea and cups are perfect and the book is great. And Ty loved his squeaky toy. I swear he is sleeping next to it now. Secret Pals 3 ended on Dec. 4 so I’ve known Anita’s identity since then but she told me one more thing was coming and although I almost waited till Friday to open it, I couldn’t hold back. Thank you Anita, for being a great Secret Pal!

The recipient of my gifts, Audrey, was fun to shop for and she was always gracious in her thank yous. The whole thing was a lot of fun.

So, I haven’t done much further on the ribby cardi. I started the second front piece on Friday during our drafty table session, but I got distracted. See why? Those girls are such an influence on me.

(By the way, I have 2 extra 12″ Addi Turbo needles, size 2 (3mm). Don’t ask. I bought the wrong size by accident from a place that doesn’t accept returns, and I already HAD size 2’s anyway. If anyone wants to buy a pair, email me. I give good price!)
